“What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where to start from.”

– TS Eliot

“Practice any art, music, singing, dancing, acting, drawing, painting, sculpting, poetry, fiction, essays, reportage, no matter how well or badly, not to get money and fame, but to experience becoming, to find our what’s inside you, to make your soul grow. Seriously! I mean starting right now, do art and do it for the rest of your lives.”

– Kurt Vonnegut

What does it mean to experience perpetual becoming? How does your art confront change, continuity, impermanence, and time? For this Supporter Call for Entry, artists are invited to share their freshest work from 2024, setting the stage for their direction in 2025. Share a new series; works that express resilience or even frustration; works resulting from disciplined repetition and sustained practice. Written descriptions accompanying the work are highly encouraged. Begin again!

Begin Again will be on display in the Supporter Gallery at ARTS Southeast from January 30th – May 17th, 2025, with an Opening Reception on Friday, January 7th from 5 – 9PM and a Closing Reception on Friday, May 2nd  from 5 – 9PM in conjunction with First Fridays in Starland.

About the Supporter Gallery

The Supporter Gallery at ARTS Southeast, established in 2022, is a dedicated space where Artist Supporters have three exhibition opportunities per year. Encircling our central gallery and running along a loop of artist studios, it is a high-visibility space in the heart of our community, showcasing our Supporters and helping to set the tone of our creative space. Running in tandem with our main exhibition space The Ellis Gallery and Artist Residency projects, it exists in conversation with events throughout the year. The Supporter Gallery strives to support and uplift emerging and established artists through every step of the exhibition process. Questions about the application or results are always welcome. Artists should contact the Supporter Gallery curator, Samantha Mack, with any questions: sam@artssoutheast.org

Please note: ARTS Southeast Supporters are guaranteed entry into a minimum of one Supporter exhibition per year. Acceptance to every Supporter exhibition is not guaranteed.
