Ruth Sykes

A native of Wisconsin, Ruth Sykes has resided in Savannah since 2010. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater with a BA in Art, specializing in graphic design and illustration.

After a long career as an award winning graphic designer, she has now devoted her energy to highly textured, slow drawing. Along with her many varied interests, her work combines the overall aesthetics of Japanese and Nordic art as well as Art Nouveau. Her highly detailed and enigmatic bio-abstractions reflect a deep love of woodlands and the numinous qualities that infuse the shapes and textures found there.
