About the Project

“I recently started a new series of work that focuses on perpetual yearning and insatiable desires. These paintings, which are partly confessional angsty fantasies, reflect both a youthful hope as well as the frayed reality of adulthood. The vibrant, saturated colors combined with the subtle ominousness of longing reflect the tension between dreams and reality. The figures are caught in the middle of an action: digging, looking at an object, carrying a knife. The anticipatory feeling in the work serves to create a sense of unease. At the On:View Residency, I plan to introduce black gesso and flashe into my work, with the intent of developing the depth and contrast between light and dark in my paintings.”
