Sulfur Studios is pleased to present Prescriptions, featuring the photographic work of Lexie Peterson. Much of the work in this exhibition confronts the topics of trauma, turmoil, and healing and was created as a form of therapy for the artist, so in a sense, the images themselves are "Prescriptions".
Lexie Peterson is a photographer from in Milwaukee, WI and a survivor of domestic violence; as a result, she lives with PTSD. Her photography acts as a form of therapy for her and much of her work confronts her trauma, diagnosis, healing process, and allows her to connect with other survivors. Her work has been exhibited at the Kennedy Center, the Milwaukee Art Museum, Black Box Gallery, the H.F. Johnson Gallery of Art, SCAD’s Alexander Hall Gallery, and others.
She has received awards such as an Award of Excellence from the Kennedy Center, a Silver Key Award and Honorable Mention Awards in the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition, Carthage College’s Purchase Award, as well as a variety of scholarships and grants.
