"Paradox" by Miao He

Paradox is an M.F.A. thesis exhibition by Miao He that represents her understanding of life within contemporary jewelry form. She uses all the useless, damaged and abandoned things that have a negative meaning to create something new.  Her new pieces have a positive perspective hidden behind of all the negative aspects. Through the material ignored by the public, she exhibits a dynamic power of vitality, which is the beauty of decay.

Miao He was born and raised in Beijing, China. She will finish her M.F.A. in Jewelry at SCAD in Fall 2019. Her work focuses on expressing the beauty of decay trough organic and inorganic material.  By using garlic peels, a material people always ignore and abandon, she creates a work with a theme of “death” to form jewelry that is full of new life. Her work is about digging deep to find the vitality and power of life within the lifecycle of decay.

Paradox is on display from November 14th – 16th, 2019 and may be seen during Sulfur Studios’ regular business hours Thursday through Saturday from noon – 5PM or by appointment. The reception is on Thursday, November 14th from 5 - 8 PM.
