“This work is part of a series representing the beauty of wild landscapes which, upon close inspection, reveal the extent of human degradation of the same. Seen from a distance these locations can evoke awe. Walking the boundaries of marshes and waterways, close observation reveals the ubiquitous presence of discarded plastic. Under magnification, even smaller microplastics and fibers are omnipresent in local waterways. The sun is setting, and our actions make a difference. This clock reclaims an extremely small number of the pieces currently polluting our waterways and transforms these often single use items back into functional objects.”
