Part-Time Events + Communications Coordinator

Compensation: $17–$20 per hour based on experience
Schedule: Approximately 25 hours per week, with room to grow

ARTS Southeast seeks an organized, communicative, and resourceful Events + Communications Coordinator to support our public programs, communications, and daily operations.

This hands-on position works closely with artists, volunteers, interns, photographers, community partners, and staff to produce exhibitions, artist talks, workshops, First Friday programs, residency events, Art Lab activities, and our annual fundraising gala.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with senior staff to coordinate program details with artists, partners, volunteers, and staff, including schedules, supplies, technology, locations, and expectations.

  • Manage end-to-end operations for events, including setup, guest services, promotional timelines and materials, day-of coordination, breakdown, and follow-up.

  • Support monthly First Friday programs and the annual fundraising gala, including committee meetings and participant communication.

  • Produce press releases, and work with support staff on newsletters, social media posts, event listings, website updates, and promotional graphics.

  • Maintain contact lists for media, artists, volunteers, interns, and community partners; coordinate photographers and organize image catalog.

  • Work the Studio Books and welcome desk, assist with opening and closing, greet visitors, and help train interns and new desk staff.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have strong writing, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and points of contact.

Experience in events, arts administration, nonprofit work, communications, public relations, hospitality, or community programming is preferred. Applicants should be comfortable writing promotional copy, creating digital graphics, maintaining calendars and contact lists, limited public speaking engagements, and working with artists and the public.

Experience with Google Workspace, Squarespace, Later, Mailchimp, Adobe Photoshop/Adobe Creative Suite is strongly preferred. Familiarity with photography, email marketing, website management, or digital asset organization is also beneficial.

Knowledge of Savannah’s arts community and an interest in contemporary art are advantages. A college degree is not required; relevant professional, creative, nonprofit, event, or community-based experience will be considered.

Schedule and Requirements

The standard public-facing schedule to start is 3 days per week, from 12 - 5PM. Applicants must also be available for monthly First Friday events, occasional evenings, event setup and breakdown, staff meetings, and limited off-site meetings or errands.

The position includes periods of standing and assistance moving tables, chairs, signs, boxes, artwork, and event supplies. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
