“I was interested in the concepts of identity and adornment and how we express our identity. ‘To Live as a Warrior’ is from a series of paintings, pastels and masks entitled ‘Dressed to Kill.’ In Papua New Guinea warriors decorated their bodies and faces before going to battle. They hide their identity while creating an identity of fierceness.”
