In the process of making preparatory gouache sketches to propose a work for the Drive Thru Art Box site, Savannah artist Chris Moss realized that “the process of making drawings for possible installations was engaging in itself.” To that end, his "100 Proposals for the Drive Thru Art Box" will turn the process into the work, presenting an installation, a private performance and a work of endurance art.
Over the course of 17 weeks, Moss will include 6 drawings per week rotated through the Drive Thru Art Box display beginning Thursday, March 9. Installations will be generated as the exhibition progresses, leaving the process open to influence and change on the fly. Topics may include: local or national or cultural news, the near limitless possibilities of the project itself, a brief history of past installations in the box, references to the location, Green Truck Pub, hamburgers, Moss’ own work, post apocalyptic futures, jokes, flights of fancy…
The final set of drawings will be installed June 29. The project concludes July 8th. Moss’ drawings, and accompanying text about each proposal, will be documented via weekly instagram posts @mrhopthescissor.
