“Flora” is a collection of large scale multi-media pieces by Savannah artist, José Ray. Each work is based on a floral theme and shifts from realistic rendering to intuitive drawing with a seamless flow of organic line and texture.
The works range from 2x2’ to 4x5’ and exhibit a range of materials including watercolor, gouache, ink, markers, colored pencils, and graphite.
Illustrative forms roll and billow with rich and vibrant colors that beckon the viewer’s gaze. Upon closer examination, imaginative worlds can be seen hiding underneath a canopy of flowers or peering from behind blades of grass.
The gallery space will also include an installation by José that furthers the Flora theme to create an immersive world of floral wonder and puts the viewer right into the content of the show.
Works will be on display October 17th - 19th from noon - 5pm each day.
The reception will be held October 18th from 6 - 9pm.
