ARTS Southeast is pleased to present story board, an installation by Marcus Kenney on display in the Drive Thru Art Box at Green Truck Pub from August 7 - October 8, 2026
HAPPY HOUR ARTIST TALK: Wednesday, August 19, at 6:15PM (doors open at 6PM)
ABOUT THE PROJECT: Calling upon the technique of storyboarding to build the outline of a narrative within visual media, Marcus Kenney’s story board uses assemblage, collage, and the recontextualization of found objects to transform The Drive Thru Art Box into an evocative, impressionistic snapshot of a story. The objects– a wide array of familiar, weathered, and discarded materials that have become characteristic of Kenney’s work– presented within the windows of the art box become a carefully staged narrative within a wider, uncontrolled environment, contained within a frame much like a photograph or film strip by the physical borders of the space. Contrasting the built environment of story board’s narrative against the surrounding public space encourages the viewer to question the selection of pieces presented within the art box, allowing the objects to evoke memories of time and place to create a nontraditional form of storytelling.
