About the Exhibition: Whistling in the Dark is a collection of works exploring the role of abstraction and play as a method of navigating the beauty and chaos of our contemporary life on earth. The works are created with oil-based inks, printed on paper, then mounted onto panels. The creation of these pieces begins and ends through monoprint processes where Oden navigates energy, conflict, and boundaries (both real and imagined) and their influence on the movement of matter. The artist thinks of these works as moving images. Marks spill, they crash, they block, and they bounce, the action to be completed in the viewer's mind. Everything is in a state of flux; the only constant is change.

About the Artist: Debora Oden won the Triennial Prize, 5th Egyptian International Print Triennial, Cairo, Egypt and her work was included in the 3rd International Experimental Engraving Biennial at The Brancovan Palace Cultural Center in Mogosoaia, Romania. She was also invited to participate in the 2009 China Sanbao International Printmaking Exhibition and Symposium, hosted by the Jingdezhen Sanbao Ceramic Art Institute, Shanxi University College of Fine Art and the Beijing Center Academy of Fine Art.
