For this nation-wide Call for Entry, Sulfur Studios invited artists working in traditional craft media (Ceramic, Fibers, Glass, Metals, Paper, and/or Wood) to submit work, with Guest Juror Ceramicist Jessica Broad. 

Artists were encouraged to push the boundaries of what “functional” means, including work that is conceptual or satirical, along side more traditional craft forms.

About Guest Juror, Jessica Broad:

Jessica Broad is an artist living and working in Savannah, GA. Her art explores the sculptural and functional potentials of clay and other media. She also has strong interests in drawing and printmaking. She received a B.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1996 and her M.F.A. from the University of Arizona in 2003. She has completed residencies at the Vermont Clay Studio and the Baltimore Clayworks, where she received the Lormina Salter fellowship. She was honored with the Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Grant in Visual Arts: Crafts in 2006. Jessica has been teaching ceramics since 2001, she is currently a professor at SCAD and coordinator of the Savannah Clay Community. 

"Function: An Exhibition of Contemporary Craft" is on display from November 8th through the 24th, and may be seen during the gallery’s normal business hours, Thursday – Saturday, noon to 5PM.
